Experiments Cont.

This experiment was based on the style of Andy Warhol's  Self portrait of Mick Jagger 

     

Using news print and tissue paper as background

Then using indian ink mixed with PVA glue as the drawing medium, the self portrait was drawn over the top. I found it had to get use to the glue and how some times it was really leaky and others it was not. But i found the experiment really interesting i like using some thing other then charcoal i just think that i need some more practice using it and seeing how by squeezing at different hight you get a different consistency in the glue. (lol)

I then worked back into the painting using greens and yellows as i thought it complimented my colour scheme well. I think thought that i will go back and rework some of the areas to get better shading and tonal contrast in the face.

We have also done experiments based on Australian Artist Dane Lovett's work who did the album cover for Eskimo Joe. His use of large brush strokes and simple line were the basis for our experiments.

   

He also won a Qantas Spirit of Youth Award.
