Emotional Analogues
Three examples of analogues from the dictionary.com are
1.Something that bears an analogy to something else: Surimi is marketed as an analogue of crabmeat.
2.Biologically Analogue means: An organ or structure that is similar in function to one in another kind of organism but is of dissimilar evolutionary origin.
3.Often analog Of, relating to, or being a device in which data are represented by continuously variable, measurable, physical quantities, such as length, width, voltage, or pressure.
In summary the word analogues comes from analogy … meaning a similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar.
In class today we had to examine the words listed in a table of emotional traits.
We had to shade in the boxes from the table which we thought to indicate our dominant emotional traits.
The ones that i selected were:
adoration
anxiety
curiosity
determination
frustration
hope
hysteria
lust
panic
respect
serenity
sympathy
love
confusion
The task sheet stated that "each of these emotions will have a visual analogue specific to your experience; eg Joy may be represented as bright, vibrant yellow, Anger as heavy dark grey. This can be taken further to include the style, direction, pressure etc of the mark that you use to represent the emotion."
We then had to, without drawing representational ‘pictures’ of the emotions, represent 3 of the dominant ones that we had chosen as analogies for our own dominant traits.
I had selected...
anxiety
determination
serenity
as my dominant three emotions.
Mrs Vincent has my visual diary so i will upload my representational drawings when my diary returns along with my justifications for my selection of the elements in each drawing.
Oh i forgot to mention that my doll, has been hung up in the visitors reception in James along with Jee Young's which is kinda cool. I think it looks very nice framed. lol.
Have a great long weekend
